Constitutional Amendments

October 2007 Amendments to the October 2006 OLISSA Constitution

Amendment 1

The UOSA Associate General Counsel has recently notified the OLISSA Officers that our organization's constitution does not currently include, "A clause specifying that your organization shall comply with all local, state, and federal laws." For additional details, you may view the notice.

In order for OLISSA to gain the benefits of registration as provided by Title 10, including "the ability to access organizational funds, participate in University sponsored or sanctioned activities, or reserve and use University facilities," we must amend our constitution to incorporate these changes by October 1, 2007.

Proposed Amendment 1 - The following article will be appended to our constitution:

Article IX - Compliance with Law

Section 1 - Compliance

OLISSA is subject to Local, State, and Federal Laws.

Amendment 2

To widen the eligibility pool of officers for OLISSA, we would like to amend Article III, Section 2 from:

Student officers must be students at the University of Oklahoma. Therefore, if a student ceases to be an OU student, that student can no longer serve as an officer. Officers will officially begin their terms at the commencement of the summer semester. Any member is eligible to hold office after having been a member of OLISSA for one semester.

Officers will officially begin their terms at the commencement of the summer semester. Any member is eligible to hold office after having been a member of OLISSA for one semester. If no nominations for an office are received during an election period, first semester members of OLISSA will be eligible to hold office in that election cycle.
