Students interested in participating in the following OLISSA projects and activities are encouraged to contact us.
Administration
Chair: Brian Shults
Duties involve OLISSA Budgeting, Planning, Elections, and Constitution/Compliance. Current tasks include:
- Creation of an OLISSA Guide
- Formalizing guidelines on GSS senator selection
- Formalizing voting/surveying procedures
- Identification of key items/rules for UOSA compliance
Academic Programming
Chair: Lyle Barbato
Duties involve research related events. Current tasks include:
- Organizing and facilitating the SLIS Colloquia
- Organizing the SLIS Journal Club Meetings
Projects
Chair: Jenny Rempel
Duties involve planning one-time events/projects. Current tasks include:
- Organizing events for Banned Books Week (early fall semester)
- Organizing events for National Library Week (spring semester)
- Organizing tours to local library/archives
Student Support
Chair: JoAnn Palmeri
Duties involve planning events in general support of the student community. Current tasks include:
- Organizing Incoming Student Orientation Events
- Organizing Comps, Portfolio, and Graduation Events
- Promoting student volunteer opportunities
- Promoting undergraduate participation
Professional Development
Chair: George Gottschalk
Duties involve promoting research, funding, and professional development opportunities for students. Current tasks include:
- Promotions through the OLISSA website
- Promotions through physical displays
- Organizing meetings/presentations/events on this topic
- Promoting OLA (volunteer opportunities, student presentations, and resume book)
Mentor Study Group
Chair: Sheena Perez
Duties involve the consideration and potential creation of a peer mentoring group for incoming graduate students. A pilot program is currently underway in Tulsa.
